Databases

Databases contain both already published articles as well as not yet published working and discussion paper. On the one hand, there are fact databases that exclusively contain information. On the other, there are full text databases that include literature references and access to publications. Furthermore, there are literature databases and reference databases that hold literature references.

To access parts of the databases, a connection via Kiel University Wi-Fi or via Kiel University VPN-Client is necessary.

Agricultural Economics

AgEconSearch
AgEconSearch is a full text database that concentrates on agronomic publications. It contains mostly working papers, conference reports and journal articles, but also book chapters and governmental documents.

Business Source Premier 
Business Source Premier is a full text database that includes more than 2.300 business journals. The journals deal with topics such as accounting, financing, marketing, management and operational management. Besides the journals, over 12.000 company reports, about 7.800 case studies and more than 900 economic reports from different countries are available.

Econis is an online catalogue of the central library for economic studies (ZBW). The catalogue contains journals, dissertations, discussion papers, working papers, statistics, monographies and collective works for all kinds of topics in economic studies.

EconLit
EconLit contains publications to economic subjects since 1969. Besides 750 scientific journals, EconLit collects collective works since 1984 and dissertations since 1987. It also covers English paper and essays as well as publications with English abstracts and full text articles from the “Abstracts of Working Papers in Economics” database and from the RePEc project.
Access is only possibly through University Wi-Fi and is carried out by the EBSCO Host.

Econpapers accesses the RePEc database and therefore contains more than 2 Million entries from 4.300 working paper series and 2.300 scientific journals. A major part of the full text articles is openly accessible, for the rest a subscription is necessary.

Research Papers in Economics is a full text database that contains articles from scientific journals and discussion papers. All in all, the database contains more than two Million entries from 4.300 working paper series and 2.300 scientific journals. The content is accessible through various databases, such as EconPapers, EconLit or EBSCO.

Sciencedirect
ScienceDirect incorporates over 2.500 scientific journals and 33.000 books of the Elsevier publisher and thus more than 13 Million publications. The publications deal mostly with topics of engineering sciences, natural sciences and social sciences.
For open-access journals and articles, access is possible from everywhere. Access to licensed articles is possible through University Wi-Fi, but only if the University has a subscription for the mentioned journal.

Scopus

Research, access to abstracts, open access journals and the archive from 1960-2002 are available for free. Licensed media that is subscribed by the University can also be accessed via University Internet connection.

Animal health & Production CompendiumThe Animal Health & Production Compendium is a fact database specialized on animal health and animal production. It contains 3.000 datasheets concerning animal wealth, pathogens, disease vectors, livestock animal and poultry species and -breeds and food safety. Furthermore, 20.000 basic datasheets are available. It additionally offers access to the CAB Abstracts database, to 13.000 bibliographical references for full texts and to 2.000 pictures for demonstrations and teaching. Aquaculture Compendium
The Aquaculture Compendium is a fact database for all subjects concerning aquaculture. It contains more than 14.000 datasheets as well as 150.000 abstracts and offers access to full texts. The information incorporates cultivated species, diseases, demographic allocation and case studies. After a registration, free access is granted to all archived data before 2006.

The CAB Abstracts Archive is a life science archive database that collected about 6 Million documents between the years 1910 and 1989. The documents are articles from 7.500 scientific journals, books as well as conference reports and research reports and deal with subjects from the fields of agricultural sciences and nutritional sciences as well as veterinary medicine, environmental sciences and applied sciences. This database is part of the Web of Science.

Chemical Abstracts
Chemical Abstracts offers access to the databases CAPLUS, REGISTRY, SASREACTION, CHEMCATS, CHEMLIST and Medline. Livivo is a search machine for life sciences, such as nutritional sciences, agricultural sciences and medicine.
