General Information

The Chair of Dairy and Food Industry Economics is an endowed professorship that was founded by several companies and institutions of the Northern German agribusiness. Since December 1, 2014, Professor Dr. Sebastian Hess is leading the working group.

The endowed professorship for Dairy and Food Industry Economics at the University of Kiel was established in order to strengthen dairy research in Kiel.

The aim of "Economics of Dairy and Food Industry" is to develop interdisciplinary solutions to complex problems in the research area of the Chair.
This explicitly includes the entire value chain for milk and related upstream and downstream markets for inputs. Also included is the analysis of related products of animal origin.

"Interdisciplinary" refers in this context to two main aspects:

First, cooperation within the Economic and Social Sciences disciplines.

Second, cooperation with natural sciences and engineering.
